Bump Update: Week 17


My bump seems a little bit more obvious if I place my hand on top of my stomach

I posted this on Instagram on Saturday night; it seems like my bump is also a little bit bigger by the end of the day

How far along: 17 weeks & 3 days

Size of baby: About 5 inches long, weighs about 5 ounces, and is the size of an onion (or the size of your open hand)

Weight gain: 7 lbs

Maternity clothes: I bought a few longer non-maternity tank tops to start wearing to work under cardigans and those have worked out well.  I attempted the belly band with some jeans but it just looked goofy.  I've been alternating between 3 pairs of dress pants that still fit comfortably and luckily, I'm allowed to wear jeans to work on Fridays so I only need to wear one pair of dress pants twice Monday-Thursday.

Symptoms: Still getting a bad headache around 3:00ish each afternoon, also been having some minor cramping & pressure

Gender: Thinking boy (we find out in 2 weeks!)

Exercise: I was able to run 20 miles last week & teach 4 classes but I didn't take a rest day so this week I'm aiming to run 15-20 miles & teach 3 classes (I had to find a sub for one my classes this week because of another commitment) and take a rest day

Food cravings: Cheese & crackers

Food aversions: Nothing

Movement: Not that I've noticed yet but like I said before, I've been feeling some minor cramping & pressure but I think it's just everything expanding

Sleep: Still been sleeping relatively well but I've started using a body pillow to keep myself from rolling over on to my back

Looking forward to: Going to a friend's baby shower this weekend & I'm excited to see her and a couple of my other good friends (and one of them is also pregnant)

Best moment of the week: Our crib was delivered!

  1. I think that's why we all put our hands on our bellies! :) I'm feeling lots of pressure, too. Just our bodies making room for our little onions!

  3. I love ikea! There are so many hacks now...just changing out the knobs gives pieces a different feel! Would the picture ledges work for books if you can't find the spice racks?

  4. I'm just 3 weeks behind you and I'm getting bad headaches too. It stinks bc Tylenol doesn't help at all. I guess I need to get in gear with the nursery stuff - I haven't even looked yet!

  5. So excited for you to find out the gender!! I popped about week 19. Literally over night. Before spring break I could button my pants. Then the week I came back there was no hope. It's crazy how fast it happens. With headaches try a little pop with caffeine. I will drink less than a half cup of pepsi and 1 tylenol and I'm good to go! Good luck!
