Todd turned 33 last Friday and instead of planning a fun weekend getaway for him this year (in the past, we'd gone wine tasting at Geneva-on-the-Lake, done a Bourbon Trail trip, a long weekend to St. Louis, and a day trip to Cleveland/Akron), we had our first official date night since Lucy has been born which might have been more exciting than our trips!
During the day on Friday, Lucy & I made the 40 minute drive to visit Todd at work & have lunch with him. He was excited to show off his daughter to some of his coworkers and they were all really excited to meet her. I've only been to Honda once to see where he works and it was on the weekend when they had a special family event so this was actually the first time I'd gone during a workday. I was so excited to document Lucy's first visit to her dad's work but apparently you're not allowed to take pictures at Honda R&D so that was a fail. Lucy was very well behaved though and was pretty content during lunch.
That evening, my parents came over to watch Lucy for a couple hours so we could go out to dinner...alone. Even though we ended up talking about Lucy a lot (and discussing Operation Bottle for the following day...more details on that tomorrow), it was really nice to get out and have some couple time.
Todd & Lucy on his birthday
Family photo before we left for dinner
Dinner at Columbus Brewing Company meant a taster flight for Todd
Pulled Pork Pizza for him & Pecan Crusted Chicken for me
Once we got home and put Lucy to bed, Todd opened his presents from the two of us. Lucy did a much better job of picking out her present to him because I ended up getting him some beer making equipment that I didn't realize he already had...oops.
Opening presents
New hoodie from Lucy (her eye ointment stained his other hoodie from when she was born so she was nice enough to replace it)
On Saturday, we went to Teh Ku Tea Company for lunch and then ran a bunch of errands & even started some Christmas shopping!
Walnut crunch iced green tea, half a turkey grilled cheese sandwich, and house salad for Todd...and clearly, he liked the hoodie he got the day before
Hot chocolate for me (not a fan of tea) with half a grilled cheese sandwich & house salad
Our sleepy girl during lunch
Later that evening, my parents came over for cake & more presents. I knew Todd & I wouldn't be able to eat an entire cake by ourselves (well, I'm sure we could have but I don't think we should have) so it was the perfect opportunity for them to come over for his birthday and also hang out with Lucy.
Todd opening presents from my parents
A bottle of Pearse Lyons whiskey (he needed to replace the one he finished from his birthday last year), a pack of flavored bitters, and the Indiana Jones Blu-ray Complete Adventure Collection
Lucy was snuggled sleeping with her grandpa during the present opening
But she woke up once she heard we were having cake
Helping Todd blow out the candles but I think she was a little confused about where the candles actually were (and please, let's not talk about how her hair looks red here)
One more family photo to cap off Todd's birthday
