I don't think we could've done more in the past few days if we tried! Since we did so much, I'm breaking up our typical weekend recap into two posts so this one is just about Thursday and Friday. Todd & I both took off work on Thursday for our annual trip to the state fair. Last year Cece was only 10 days old so this year looked a little different because she wasn't sleeping the entire time! The vibe of the fair was a little "off" on Thursday because of the tragic accident that had happened the night before where 7 people were injured and one teenager died after a ride malfunction. None of the rides were open that day due to further inspection so it just seemed eerily quiet in that section of the fair. Fair rides have always sketched me out so I was glad they were closed just so I didn't have to worry about Lucy asking to ride one. We still had a great day though and just barely beat the rain on our way out. We saw lots of animals, ate some fried food, and even met some PBS characters!
Family photo at the entrance
Lucy posing with Nature Cat...
and Clifford
Petting the cows
Checking out the famous butter cow
Petting a miniature pony
Lucy loves the Ohio Farm Bureau Land & Living exhibit in one of the buildings; she saw a model train...
got to ride in a combine simulator...
posed with Cece as bacon & eggs...
met a bald eagle...
and got to go "grocery shopping"
Checking out and showing the lady her grocery list
We made it over to the Natural Resources area this year and Lucy saw Smokey Bear
Cece enjoyed her ride on daddy's shoulders
We made a stop into the Taste of Ohio building for Velvet ice cream's fair flavor that they create every year only for the fair; this year's flavor was Cereal & Milk and it tasted like golden grahams in cinnamon ice cream
Lucy enjoyed it!
We stopped in to watch the barrel racing and happen to get there when John Kasich (the governor of Ohio) was giving the announcer of the racing an award for doing it for almost 40 years
Both girls were captivated by the horses
Walking along the "food highway"
Cece passed out....which was perfect timing as we were about to eat our fried food and she had no idea she was missing out on food (this girl loves to eat and legit gets mad if you're eating and she isn't)
Had to get the sampler again this year with deep fried oreos, nutter butters, and buckeyes
Todd was back to work on Friday but I was still off on my normal day off. Lucy has been asking to get her haircut for weeks now so we finally scheduled her an appointment and got that done. After, we drove to the Columbus Commons for their kid's day where they had some inflatables and games set up and finished our trip out with lunch at the North Market. We were gone for almost 5 hours and both girls conked out when we got home! I'd like to say Todd & I did something exciting that evening but as soon as we turned on a movie, I fell asleep on the couch.
Every morning that we're home (when I'm not working), Lucy picks out a costume to wear and on Friday, she picked Snow White; my mom actually sewed this for me to wear for Halloween when I was little so it's extra special to see Lucy wearing it
Watching tv and driving her police car while getting her haircut
Her favorite part is also getting her nails painted (she picked sparkly purple on one hand and sparkly pink on the other hand)
She also got a balloon, sucker, and a ring
Riding the carousel at the Columbus Commons (it's free to ride on the kid's day)
The inflatables set up (there was a bounce house, slide, and obstacle course)
Going down the slide
The OSU marching band was performing that night for Picnic with the Pops so we got to hear them rehearsing
