Mariner of the Seas Bahamas Cruise: Day 4-6

The second half of our trip was spent at Atlantis in Nassau and a full day at sea on the ship.  After a great week, we arrived home late Friday night (a few hours later than expected since our original flight was cancelled) and drove up on Saturday morning to go pick up the girls & go to Todd's family reunion.

Day 4 in Nassau, Bahamas (Wednesday, July 25, 2018)
  • Workout in fitness center
  • Breakfast on the balcony
  • Spent the day at Aquaventure (water park) at Atlantis
  • Dinner in main dining room
  • Got back off the ship (we were there from 8:00 AM-midnight) for beers at Pirate Republic Brewing Company
  • Drinks back on the ship at the Bamboo Room
Morning rain shower caused some fog & mist (you can barely see Atlantis)

Breakfast on our balcony again (there were 2 other cruise ships in port that day too)

Excited to go explore Atlantis--there was so much to do!

We picked lounge chairs by the main pool but honestly only sat down for maybe 20 min the whole time we were there

The famous Leap of Faith slide at Atlantis (the left side is the Leap of Faith body slide and the right side was actually a really fun tube slide; both end in a tunnel in a shark pool)

View of the pool we sat at

The well-known bridge room

Another view of the Leap of Faith slide

We spent the first 30 min or so just wandering around the resort and trying to figure out where everything was; we got there a little after 9:00 AM but the slides didn't open until 10:00 AM

Once the slides opened, Todd immediately got in line for the Leap of Faith and I waited 30+ min for him at the bottom; I spent most of the time watching the sharks in the shark pool

There's Todd!

I was surprised I actually got good pictures of him

Todd shooting out at the bottom of the slide and ending up in the pool

One of our favorite things from the day was The Current Rapids River ride; kinda like a lazy river but definitely not calm and relaxing

On our second time around, I brought my phone to take pictures

At the very beginning, there was a huge wave/rapids maker machine that propelled you down the river

More rapids in another section

Enjoying the ride

View of the tube that is in the shark pool that the one water slide ends on (you can see an inner tube with people on it in the tube)

We spent over 5 hours going down most of the slides before we headed back to the entrance to pick up our shuttle to take us back to the cruise ship; the scenery at Atlantis was perfection though

Another pool that had paddle boats, snorkeling, etc.

And another view

Chihuly piece outside the resort casino

Our ship docked between the other two that were in port that day

Dressed up for dinner on the ship

Professional picture from that evening

After we ate, all the wait staff put on a show and sang a song

Beautiful sunset after we got off the ship again to go to a local brewery

Pirate Republic Brewing Company

Todd got two different beers and was pleasantly surprised how good they were

Our ship lit up on our way back (the other two ships had left)

More of my kind of drink back on the ship at the Bamboo Room

Really fun tiki bar!

I was bummed though they didn't put our drinks in tiki glasses

Day 5 At Sea (Thursday, July 26, 2018)
  • Workout in fitness center
  • Breakfast in main dining room
  • Hung out at pool most of the day
  • Dinner at Jamie's Italian
  • Walked around ship one last time
Beautiful rainbow seen during my morning workout

View looking down from the 11th floor

I was pretty much obsessed with our balcony

Todd doing some early morning reading (you guys, he read an ENTIRE book from start to finish on the ship! He said it was the fastest he's ever read a book)

Fancy breakfast in the main dining room

Laying out by the pool sipping on a Miami Vice by 10:00 AM

After 5 hours of sitting in the sun, we figured we should get in the shade for a bit so we didn't get fried

Wine, music, and reading in the late afternoon

Dressed up for our dinner at Jamie's Italian, one of the specialty restaurants on board

Outside the restaurant

The menu--there was so much to choose from we ended up getting a little bit of everything!

Dinner with a window view

Another picture of us with better lighting

Todd and his antipasto board

I had eggplant parmesan for my main dish

Yeah, we had a ton of food and this was hands down our favorite meal of the week

but still saved room for tiramisu and a brownie for dessert

Another movie showing on the pool deck

Nigh time view of the fitness center from the front of the ship

Day 6 in Airport (Friday, July 27, 2018)
  • Packed bags
  • Breakfast at Windjammer
  • Got of the ship and went straight to the airport
  • Flew from Miami to Detroit
  • Flight in Detroit delayed and then eventually cancelled; by some miracle we got on another flight to Columbus and made it home only 4 hours later than expected
Sad we were back in Miami but excited to see the girls the next day

First plan ride from Miami to Detroit

Amazing views of Miami Beach

Like I said, we somehow got the last couple seats on a flight home from Detroit to Columbus after our original flight was cancelled and we ended up with a comfort+ seat which meant a TON of leg room

I'd never had this much leg room on a plane (my feet didn't even touch the seat in front of me when fully extended) and I couldn't get over it!  Of course, our flight was only 35 min though
