I can now say that both girls are officially on summer break! Cece wrapped up her first year of preschool a couple weeks ago and Lucy just finished Kindergarten yesterday. It still blows my mind that she will be in FIRST GRADE next year! I've mentioned it before but our school district has an odd Kindergarten schedule so she went full days but only every Monday/Thursday and every other Wednesday (yeah, not confusing at all, is it?) so first grade will be a much bigger adjustment than this year was when she starts going every day for a full day.
Lucy had a really great teacher and made some really good friends this year. She loved going to Y Club before school (before care program) but also loved riding the bus home. She brought her yearbook home with her yesterday and as she was looking through it, she was showing me all the kids she was friends with at Y Club. There was only one other kindergarten boy in Y Club so the kids she played with and became friends with were mainly 1st and 2nd graders. Despite being so young and making the birthday cutoff by one day, she did really well in school and we're confident we made the right decision. During conferences in the fall, her teacher said that she had her "flagged" at the beginning of the year just because she was the youngest one but was pleasantly surprised with how well she was doing and even asked us what we had been doing at home with her. She is above grade level for reading and even won the Respect award for her class during the 2nd quarter. She also joined Girl Scouts in the fall and has had a blast with the other girls, learning new skills, selling cookies, and going on fun outings every month.
Cece & I were able to join Lucy at the end of her school day yesterday (they had a 2 hour early dismissal so I cut out of work an hour early) to join her for her classroom party. Afterwards, we came home & then walked to Handel's to celebrate the start of summer with ice cream!
Cece on her last day of 2 year old preschool on May 8
First day vs. last day (seriously, look how much she grew!!)
Comparing Lucy & Cece on their last day of 2 year old preschool; despite being only 2 months apart with their birthdays (Cece is July and Lucy is September), Cece is significantly taller than Lucy was (and Lucy isn't short either!)
Lucy's last day of Kindergarten on May 23
And one with little sister
Had to take a picture outside of school on the way into Y Club that morning because I knew I had taken the same one on the first day

Four years of "last day" pictures...I love these because you don't realize how much they're growing until you look at something like this
Lucy's teacher made these cute pictures and had all the kids sign each one so the kids had something special to take home to remember their Kindergarten classmates
Lucy wanted Cece to be right next to her the whole party and luckily there were extra snacks for Cece to enjoy too!
The kids played hot potato (Cece joined in too!)

Perfect day for ice cream to celebrate...although I will be honest, there were about 50 other people that had the same idea as us so we did stand in line for 30-45 min to get this ice cream
