Hot Start to Summer

After a brief hiatus, I'm back!  My laptop screen stopped working a couple weeks so we had to buy a new one and it took almost a week to get everything backed up and converted over.

We've had a heat wave to kick off summer so we've spent lots of time at Zoombezi Bay and the splash pad as well as squeezing in some time to work on projects around the house.  We almost have our updated guest room complete and Todd is finally starting to work on the basement project again.

Lucy was in zoo camp 2 weeks ago and it was a full day camp except for Friday so Cece & I went to Zoombezi Bay for a little bit (which is connected to the zoo), walked over at noon to pick up Lucy from camp, and then spent another couple hours at Zoombezi Bay all together

Girls ate lunch as soon as we picked Lucy up and got back to our chairs

One of my favorite pictures of them and I swear, for once, they actually look alike here (or at least like sisters!)

While Cece napped and I cut the grass, Lucy helped Todd load up the rest of the mulch to finish mulching the backyard

Out to dinner to The Rail--the covered patio was perfect that night

Cece sat with me on the other side

Afterwards, we went to buy our new laptop

Last week, Lucy was at VBS so Cece & I stopped by the park to play before picking her up

While Lucy was at VBS on Friday, Cece & I walked to the splash pad/play ground and met friends there

These 3 kiddos played well together for almost 2 hours

We went back to Zoombezi Bay on Saturday since it was 90 degrees; I'm so glad we got there when it opened because by the time we left 3 hours later, it was slammed and they were at capacity

Since they were in their swimsuits & cover ups, we figured it was the perfect time to stop by Handel's for $1 cone day

She had blue ice cream all over her face

It was late afternoon by the time we got home so we skipped Cece's nap but when the girls were watching a show, I looked over and saw that she had fallen asleep; by this age, Lucy's naps were hit or miss but Cece is definitely not ready to give up naps quite yet

On Saturday evening, the babysitter came over so Todd & I could go to a backyard party at one of my friend's houses; they had rented the Powell Village Winery mobile and it was so cute

We had such a fun night hanging out with friends, making new friends, and sampling a variety of local wines

Lucy was bummed she missed out on the splash pad on Friday so we went again on Sunday

Lucy's been begging to go camping so Todd set up his 2-person tent in our backyard on Sunday night for a camp out

After we put Cece to bed, Todd & Lucy headed outside for some bedtime stories before it got dark; Lucy brought her camping bag which consisted of a flashlight, magnifying glass, and binoculars

Cozy in the tent

Despite fireworks going off at 10:00 PM and a deer staring at them early in the morning, the camp out was a success!
