Bump Update: Week 19

How far along: 19 weeks & 3 days

Size of baby: About 6 inches long, weighs about 8.5 ounces (half a pound!), and is the size of either a large mango or large heirloom tomato

Weight gain: 9 lbs which I'm really happy with; my goal was to gain about 10 pounds by 20 weeks and around 30 pounds total.  Weight gain for a woman with a normal BMI should be between 25-35 pounds so I would be happy if it was around 30 pounds.  I don't think that's too much and seems manageable to lose afterwards.

Maternity clothes: I've been wearing a belly band with some dress pants that don't button anymore and I've found it to also be more comfortable with my jeans, especially when sitting down.  I'm wearing it in the picture above and I feel like it also makes my bump a little more noticeable since I don't have my jeans cutting into my stomach/bump.

Symptoms: I always got really bad leg cramps about once or twice a month but now I've been getting these leg cramps multiple times a week.  If I take a Tylenol right when they start to hit, I'm okay but if I wait to long, it's kinda painful but something I've always had to deal with so in the grand scheme of things, it really isn't too bad. I've actually been feeling really good lately and don't have anything to complain about.

Gender: We find out tomorrow morning!

Exercise: Running 15-20 miles/week and teaching 4 Spin/TRX and/or TRX/Yoga classes/week; I bought a maternity support belt to start wearing too when I run to relieve some of the pressure and help ease the feeling that I have to pee.

Food cravings: To be honest, I really haven't had any strong cravings but more things that just sound good; I've yet to make Todd go out and pick up something for me.  The past few days I've been wanting chips & guacamole.

Food aversions: Nothing

Movement: Definitely feeling lots of flutters throughout the day...more so when I'm driving in the car or sitting at work.  I've even felt them from the outside a couple times although it just kinda feels like a pulse or heartbeat, no real strong kicks or anything; excited for when Todd will be able to feel it.

Sleep: Sleep has been great, no complaints!

Looking forward to: Finding out the gender tomorrow and also going shopping for maternity clothes with my mom on Saturday.

Best moment of the week: By the end of the week, the best moment will be finding out the gender but up to today, I'd say the best moment was going for a walk last night with Todd in warm weather and talking about baby names and what else we need to do for the nursery.

  3. I am so excited for you to find out the gender!! And maternity clothes shopping is always a good time. I really liked going to the Motherhood Maternity at Polaris--they have all different levels of spending but they also give you a snack while you shop. :) I had those same leg cramps, but I would also get them in my toes. I always thought they were from a lack of potassium but my OB told me to up my calcium intake as well and it really did help!

  4. Bump?! CONGRATULATIONS! I am so happy to read this - I haven't been able to catch up in quite some time and I see I have missed a lot. I am so happy for the two of you. Can't wait to follow your progress!!

  5. I'll be 19 weeks tomorrow with baby #2 and running puts a lot of pressure on my hips/pelvis which becomes extremely uncomfortable about an hour post running. I had to stop running completely at 30 weeks with my son and wondered about the support belt you mentioned. Did you purchase locally or online?
