The rest of our Houston trip was spent at the Children's Museum of Houston, celebrating my Grandma's birthday with a big dinner and party with 30+ family members, and flying home. Such a wonderful trip that I'm so thankful we were able to go on.
Day 3 (Saturday, September 1, 2018)
- Workout & breakfast at hotel
- Visit to the Children's Museum of Houston
- Lunch at Axelrad Beer Garden (food from Luigi's Pizzeria)
- Afternoon at hotel while Cece napped (Todd went to No Label Brewery with some family)
- Birthday party/dinner at Salt and Pepper Restaurant & Catering to celebrate my Grandma's 90th birthday
Lucy immediately wanted to climb through this area as we entered the museum
Kidtropolis was my favorite area (out of the exhibits we saw); it was like a big city for the kids to play in with a bank (they got fake debit cards too to use at the ATM), grocery store, cafe, vet clinic, news station, hospital, bicycle shop, art store, etc.
View of the cafe and art store
The other side which had the market and hospital
The girls wanted to hit up the grocery store first for some shopping (look how cute these bulk bins are with fake food)
Lucy's basket is full!
Cece started her shopping at the meat freezer
Unloading their groceries onto the belt
Lucy ringing up their food (they had actual bar codes you could scan in and the price would show up on the computer screen)
They painted at the art store next
And Lucy wrote a newspaper article
We walked around a few more parts of the museum and then ventured outside to the water area where Cece, Lucy, and William all got pretty wet
After a few hours, we (Todd, Lucy, Cece, and myself as well as Jeff, Meghan, William, and Jack) found this great little beer garden for lunch; they had a TON of hammocks and chairs outside but since it was really hot, we stayed inside to eat
The beer taps were all made in Venezuela
Having a beer and watching the Ohio State football game
The girls & I before our food came
After eating, William & Lucy found this video game to play
Relaxing in a hammock on our way out
All dressed up at dinner on Saturday night
My Grandma's birthday cake
The tables set up and decorated
My aunt put together all the table decor with old pictures of my Grandma and events that happened in 1928
The best picture we could get with all 6 great grandkids (all under the age of 5)
9 of the 13 grandkids with my Grandma
Cece really took to liking my cousin and spent most of the night with him or his sisters
My uncle ordered Lucy a Shirley Temple to drink
Happy 90th!
William & Cece playing together on the iPad
Lucy & Cece coloring with my cousin
We had Cece in a pack & play the first two nights in the hotel but the last night they wanted to share the bed; besides Cece turning sideways and kicking Lucy in the head during the night, it went well! I was actually surprised they both fell asleep right away (or at least we didn't hear them making any noise from our room) and stayed in bed the whole night
Day 4 (Sunday, September 2, 2018)
- Workout & breakfast at hotel
- Went back to the Katy Mills Mall so the girls could ride the train
- Drove to airport and flew home (Houston → Atlanta → Columbus)
- Arrived home at 10:30 PM
We had a little bit of time to kill after checking out of the hotel on Sunday before driving to the airport so we went back to the mall so the girls could ride the train (we had seen it on Friday driving around but could never find where you bought tickets)
They loved it!
We had a 4:00 PM flight to Atlanta with an extremely short layover (we were practically running to the gate) and of course, Cece fell asleep in the stroller....although I don't blame her because she basically only napped for 90 minutes over a 4 day span (30 min in the car one day and an hour at the hotel before the fire alarm went off and woke her up)
We were hoping she'd fall asleep on the flight from Atlanta to Columbus since it was 8:00 PM but she was too captivated by the TV on the back of her seat
Pushing all the buttons
Lucy still wide awake while waiting for our luggage in Columbus at 9:30 PM
