One of the great things about Todd & I buying a house is that we are finally getting to use some of our wedding gifts. It was almost like Christmas as we were unpacking & finding lots of kitchen gadgets & entertaining/serving dishes that were never opened and we had forgotten about.
We decided on Sunday night to bust out our ice cream maker and make some peanut butter cup ice cream. Of course, we didn't actually read the directions ahead of time so we didn't realize the bucket you make the ice cream in has to be frozen for at least 7 hours before adding the ingredients. 8:00 PM rolled around on Sunday night and we were finally mixing the ingredients together. It mixes in the ice cream maker for about 30 minutes but it was still really soft, almost like a frosty, so we put it in the freezer overnight and finally got to try it last night. It was delicious and worth the wait--it tasted like real ice cream!
The ingredients
Mixing everything together
Pouring it in an airtight container to harden overnight
Final product!
I'm excited to make some more flavors this summer like vanilla bean and strawberry!

Liz and I are obsessed with making our own ice cream! We use Jeni's base (it's in her cook book, but you can also Google in) and then our own flavors, including Liz's favorite, Cookie Dough!
