I felt mentally stronger last week then I have in quite some time. Wednesday was a tough morning with a 4:00 AM wake up call in order to be at work by 5:00 AM. I had an hour break (instead of my lunch break, I took an early morning track break since I was able to go home by lunch time) so I drove to a local track near work and completed an AMAZING 800 repeat workout. I was tired from lack of sleep but kept pushing myself a little bit further on each repeat. I did a similar workout back on Memorial Day but only managed 4 x 800 with times about 7-8 seconds slower per 800.
I also ended the week with one of my best long runs I've ever had, thanks in part to some cooler temps. I ran 19 mi in 8:13 pace with the last mile in 7:23. I felt like I could have run another 7 miles and done a full marathon that morning. Let's hope I feel that good on September 29 in Akron.
