Lucy at 3 Months

3 months on December 29, 2013

I can't believe how fast these months are flying by and I'm unfortunately back to work this morning (fortunately though it's only part-time) after spending the last 3 months at home with our sweet Lucy.  She truly is such a great baby and it's nice to be on a schedule now...one that she has actually set herself.  She is like clockwork when it comes to her eating (every 3 hours) and sleeping.  During the day, she plays on her activity mat (usually with a toy or her hands in her mouth), hangs out in the bouncy chair and we do tummy time (while she isn't as fussy on her tummy, she now tends to fall asleep).  I've been so impressed with how quickly she is learning things and don't think I ever realized how smart little babies really are.  She has figured out how to keep the pacifier in her mouth and can occasionally put it back in her mouth if it falls out.  We've also tried out the bumbo chair in the past week since her neck control is pretty good.  Hoping in the next month she'll figure out how to roll over from stomach to back.  Lucy is also smiling all the time and likes to blow lots of spit bubbles.

Weight: 10 lbs. 13 oz. on December 12 (31st percentile)

Length: 23.5 in. on December 12 (74th percentile)

Clothes: Wearing all 0-3 month clothing (and my guess she probably will for a few more weeks at least) and size 1 diapers

Eating: She is eating every 3 hours during the day and then sleeps straight through at night so she's eating about 5 times/day.  She is still taking 100% breastmilk and is also totally fine with a bottle if needed.  I am having to get up at night to pump though but it's helped us build up a nice freezer stash.  The reason I'm getting up is because I get up early to either teach at the fitness studio or run and since Lucy isn't up until 7:30 AM, I have to pump otherwise it would be extremely uncomfortable and my body hasn't adjusted to not having to feed her overnight.

Sleeping: She is sleeping like a champ!  Lucy will take 3 naps during the day that are usually anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour; nap #1 is around 9:30 AM, nap #2 is around 12:00 PM, and nap #3 is around 3:30 PM.  She's been going to bed at night anywhere between 7:30-8:30 PM and will sleep straight through until 7:30-8:00 AM. I will note that we are still swaddling her in the Swaddle Sleep Sack and she's sleeping in her room in the Rock 'n Play.  We're going to transition her out of both in the next couple months.  Since I'm back to work today, her sleeping schedule will probably change slightly as the days I go to work, I'll have to get her up at 6:30 AM.

Likes: Licking everything, pulling my hair, her pacifier, pooping in the carseat

Dislikes: Parties/large crowds, tummy time

Milestones: First trip to see Santa, first Christmas, first overnight trip, found her feet on December 28

Lucy is so cute! We used the swaddle me sleep sacks for a long time too--there's nothing like them to help babies sleep! :)

She is such a cutie. I love her baby jeans! Noelle is still in her Rock and Play and swaddle, but in our room. I'm not sure when we'll transition her since she is sleeping really well. I can't get over how big they are getting! Hope your first day back to work went well!
