Lucy at 11 Months

11 Months on August 29, 2014

At the end of last month, Lucy was just starting to pull herself up to stand and take a couple steps.  Now when she pulls herself up on something, like the coffee table, she's practically running around in circles holding on.  She also started using her walker and can move pretty quickly holding onto that.  She loves when I chase her when she's walking with it and just giggles and giggles.

I thought last month she was starting to get some more teeth but I was wrong.  She was been drooling non-stop this entire month but I can't feel any more teeth coming through.  I was really hoping she'd have her 2 front teeth for her first birthday.

We've also discovered that Lucy seems like quite the daredevil and doesn't seem to be scared of much.  She will literally crawl over and on top of anything.  The first time she crawled over by the stairs, she didn't even hesitate to start up them.  My mom & I took her to the splash pad just the other day and she just crawled right into a bunch of hoses that were spraying water and acted like it was no big deal.  In fact, when Todd & I had her at the water park recently, there's a huge 100 galloon water bucket that dumps water every 5 minutes and Todd was holding her almost underneath it and when the water dumped, she just looked around like, yeah, is that it?

Lucy also learned a new "trick" this month.  At library story time, the librarian was reading twinkle twinkle little star and was opening and closing her hands.  She was encouraging the parents to have their little ones do the same thing to work on finger movement which helps with learning to write.  Anyways, a few days later when she was at my mom's house, she pulled out her twinkle twinkle little star book and without my mom even saying anything, Lucy opened the book and started opening & closing her hands.  She did it again later for me to see and I was really impressed!

Weight: Probably around 19-20 lbs (She was 17 lbs 13 oz on July 1, 2014 at her 9 month appt)

Length: Probably around 29-30 inches (She was 28.5 inches on July 1, 2014 at her 9 month appt)

Clothes: Still wearing 9 month & 12 month clothes and we moved her up into size 3 diapers.  Her feet have grown in the past month too!  After what seemed like forever for her feet to finally grow, she went from a size 2 last month to a size 3 this month.  She was even fitted for her first pair of shoes at Stride Rite and she was a 4w although compared to the other size 3 shoes we have, it seems like the 4w from Stride Rite are equivalent.

Eating:  Lucy tried black beans and chicken nuggets this month.  She is starting to pick favorites when it comes to her food now.  She'll eventually eat everything we give her but will eat her favorite things first.  Her favorites right now are pancakes, bananas, cottage cheese, yogurt, watermelon, cheese, and meatballs.  Lucy is also completing weaned from nursing now but is still taking breast milk in a sippy cup.  Last month, she was just down to nursing before bed and I dropped that feeding right before my back surgery because I didn't want to have to start pumping & dumping just for that one feeding.  I thought she would fuss the first night but she didn't even bat an eye!  We didn't even replace the feeding with a bottle so it just shows that she really didn't need the milk to stay full overnight.  I think it helps that we eat dinner at 6:30 PM and then she's going to bed between 7:30-8:00 PM.  Her eating schedule is still the same...breakfast around 8:00 AM, lunch around 12:00-12:30 PM, snack around 4:30 PM, and dinner around 6:30 PM with breastmilk in a sippy cup at all meals.  We give her water in a sippy cup throughout the day too.

Sleeping: Sleeping schedule hasn't change at all in the past month.  She takes 2 naps, one around 9:30 AM and one around 2:30 PM.  She'll nap from anywhere from 45 minutes to 2 hours.  She's usually down for bed between 7:30-8:00 PM and is up around 7:15 AM.

Likes: Her toothbrush & having her teeth brushed, crawling up the stairs, "running" around with her activity walker

Dislikes: Sitting still on the changing pad, baby gates on the stairs

Milestones: Started walking with assistance (August 2), first time getting fitted for her first pair of shoes (August 12), first night away from us when she spent the night at Grandma & Grandpa's (August 23)
