I needed a fall-inspired, quick & easy dessert for book club on Wednesday evening and after making an Oreo brownie trifle last month that was so delicious, I knew I had to try this Caramel Apple Trifle. This is super easy to throw together and the only thing that actually takes time is when the cake is baking. An alternative though would be to just buy store bought cake. The only bad thing about this dessert is that it's so light that you end up eating a lot more than you mean to!
My inspiration
Caramel Apple Trifle
Ingredients:
1 box of cake mix (I used spice cake but you could also use yellow cake or pound cake)
1 large container of Cool Whip or 2 small containers
1 large box of vanilla instant pudding
1 jar caramel topping sauce
2 cans of apple pie filling
Directions:
1. Preheat oven and make cake according to instructions on box.
2. Next, prepare the pudding and chill in refrigerator.
3. Once the cake has cooled, crumble/cut into small pieces and begin layering the ingredients in the trifle dish.
4. Start with a layer of cake on the bottom and drizzle with caramel sauce on top, followed by a layer of pudding, 1 can of apple pie filling, and a layer of Cool Whip. Repeat all the layers ending with Cool Whip and caramel sauce on top.
