Cecelia at 5 Months
Not sure how I'm writing another monthly recap already! Cecelia continues to be a pretty chill, laid-back baby for the most part and is becoming more and more interactive and engaged in activities. She loves playing on her activity mat or sitting in her bouncy seat and holding onto all the toys hanging above her. She still isn't rolling over in either direction but loves to sleep on her side. Cece is definitely a mama's girl and will keep her eyes on me whenever I'm in the same room as her. Even if I'm holding her in my lap, she'll constantly turn her head around to look back to make sure that I'm still there. We celebrated several big milestones this month with her first Thanksgiving, her baptism, and her first visit to see Santa. She also finally started taking a pacifier just in the past week and loves it now! She took one when she was a newborn and then never really took to it again. She'd just chew on it and it'd hang out of the corner of her mouth. We kept trying to give her one though and also of sudden, she started sucking on it and now will take one with no problem. Her poor hand was getting raw from her sucking on that so I'm glad that she's taking the pacifier now. We give it to her at night but if it falls out, she won't cry or fuss which is good.
Weight: Not sure, maybe around 15 lbs, she doesn't seem to be quite as chubby so maybe she's finally slowing down a bit; we will go back to the doctor next month for her 6 month appointment
Length: Again, not sure, but we will go back to the doctor next month for her 6 month appointment
Clothes: Cece's still wearing a combination of 3 month, 3-6 month, and 6 month clothes and we just switched her to size 2 diapers a few days ago
Eating: She is eating about 4-5 times/day (in the past couple weeks, she's gone longer between feedings and some days will eat 4 times especially on days she can sleep in) and taking breast milk exclusively. She will take 1-2 bottles/day (~7 oz.) from either Todd or my mom and then I will nurse her the other 2-3 times. Todd will give her a bottle on the mornings I have to teach or work early. My parents will give her a bottle in the late morning when I'm at work. We plan on starting her on baby food once we go to her 6 month appointment next month which is the same thing we did with Lucy.
Sleeping: Cece hit her 4 month sleep regression right on cue and literally the day she turned 4 months, she was up crying that night. We had about a week or so of nights where she would easily fall asleep and then wake up about 2 hours later and just cry and cry for an hour or two. We would go in and hold her, rock her, and/or feed her but nothing would calm her down so we just let her cry it out and she eventually went back to sleeping 11-12 hours straight at night after a few nights.
She's been napping much better and longer in the morning when she's at my parents' which is a relief. It seems like she's been taking one longer nap that's about 1-1.5 hrs and then will sometimes take another shorter 20-30 min cat nap. In the afternoon, she'll sleep anywhere from 1-2.5 hours.
Likes: sucking on her hand, putting everything in her mouth, talking/babbling, her pacifier, playing peek-a-boo
Dislikes: getting bundled up (hat, mittens, jacket) to be put in her car seat
Milestones: First Thanksgiving, first time meeting Uncle Jeff, getting baptized, found her feet, met Santa
