Squeezing in Everything Halloween-Related

It was a busy but rainy weekend for us!  The weather just didn't really cooperate for all the fun outdoor Halloween and Trick-or-Treat events so although we made it to a couple we wanted to go to, Boo at the Zoo and Candy by the Carload in Powell, we didn't stay at either one all that long.  Of course, the weather is calling for rain tomorrow too on Halloween which is when Lucy has her Fall Festival at school which includes a parade outside with all the kids in their costumes and it's Trick-or-Treat night.  Fingers crossed the rain holds off!

On Friday afternoon, we made a special trip to Target for Cece because she's pretty much potty trained (she still wears a diaper during nap time & bed in the evening) and after filling out two full sticker charts, she earned the toy of her choice.  We had loosely been working with her on it and weren't very successful (she would go to the bathroom on the potty like once every 4 or 5 days) and I was so close to just trying again in a couple months.  Well, my parents were on vacation for two weeks so Todd & I were home with the girls (alternating days off work) so I figured, hey, let's put her in underwear one day when we're at home and let's just see what happens.  Todd was home with the girls the first day we tried and I was shocked when he kept sending me texts at work that she kept going on the potty.  The same thing happened the following day so we just kept going with it.  She only had 1 accident each day on the first 3 days and then hasn't had one since (and this is now 2 weeks later).  She's pretty much in undies 100% of the time when she's awake.  In fact, she even used the bathroom at Target with no issues!

Cece picked out Nella the Princess Knight as her prize

On Saturday morning, we went to Boo at the Zoo at the Columbus Zoo

It was drizzling outside so they moved all the treat/candy stations indoors

Lucy was so excited to see a Wizard of Oz display so we had to get a picture of Cece as Glinda the Good Witch and Lucy as Dorothy in front of it

Display of carved pumpkins

Princess-inspired painted pumpkins (Little Mermaid, Frozen, Rapunzel, and Beauty & the Beast)

They had someone there carving these huge pumpkins

A few he had already done over the last weekend

On Saturday afternoon, Lucy & I went to a special Halloween Mini + Me class at barre3 in Powell; Cece wanted to get in the picture with us before she went down for her nap

Lucy was so excited to see there was a ballet barre in the room

Lynn & Olive were there too and I couldn't resist getting a picture of the two of them during class

Posing after the 30 min class before snacks & crafts

All 4 of us

And one with just Lucy & I

We had one more fun thing planned later that day which was Candy by the Carload put on by the city of Powell and held in the parking lot by city hall; I was hoping we could've walked from our house but with the on and off drizzling rain, we decided to drive

I'm glad we got there right when it started because it was packed when we left!

Local businesses were set up and handing out candy; there were a ton of vendors and the girls' pumpkin buckets were filled before we even got to all of them

On Sunday, we stayed home to carve our pumpkins and then my parents came over later for dinner & cake (my dad's birthday was when they were on vacation and we still wanted to celebrate with cake and presents)

Todd cut the top out so the girls could clean out the inside

Lucy went first...

Cece was hesitant at first but then got after it

The Wicked Witch (left) and Striped Socks with Ruby Slippers (right); you know we had to stick with the Wizard of Oz theme!

While they were carving pumpkins, Lucy snapped a picture of me making my dad's birthday cake
