Since my brother, sister-in-law, and nephews were in town for Thanksgiving, my parents hosted this year and Todd & I were in charge of desserts. We spent the morning at home baking an apple pie and Chocolate Chip Cookie Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting before heading to my parents' house. We spent the afternoon over there and then ate our Thanksgiving dinner in the late afternoon. Unfortunately, I started to feel a little under the weather in the late morning and by the time dinner rolled around, I was feeling really bad. We stayed a little bit after dinner so the girls could get their dessert but as soon as we got home around 7:00 PM, I crawled into bed and slept for over 12 hours!

and I made the cookie cake
While we were in the kitchen, the girls were very entertained by the Macy's Thanksgiving Dad parade (they were particularly excited when they saw a Shimmer & Shine float)

Todd's apple pie crust got a little crispy (it baked for 50 min and it was already crispy after 15 min so we're not sure what went wrong, the recipe didn't call to put the foil on the crust until the end of the bake time but he put it on sooner) but the pie itself was really good!
