The John Wall Dance

If you don't know me, you might not know that I'm a huge UK fan (and huge might be an understatement). I grew up with Kentucky basketball. In fact, the very first basketball game I ever remember watching was the infamous Kentucky vs. Duke basketball game in 1992. I was 8 years old and have hated Duke since then. I even went to the Final Four & Championship game in 1997 when Kentucky lost to Arizona in OT. We didn't know it at the time, but it was also Rick Pitino's last game at UK. They ended up winning the National Championship one year later though in 1998 under Tubby Smith.

Fast forward about 10 years and most UK fans were living through the glory years of years past. In fact, the past few years have not been Kentucky's finest in terms of their basketball program. Fans were getting restless that they weren't going to the Final Four year after year. Kentucky fans probably would have been ecstatic if they had even made it to the tournament last year.

Enter Coach Calipari, John Wall, Patrick Patterson, DeMarcus Cousins, and Eric Bledsoe. The program (knock on wood) has seemed to turn around. Thanks to Texas' loss last night, UK remains the only unbeaten team in the country. A large part of that goes to the freshman phenom John Wall....and perhaps his dancing skills.

Apparently Wall displayed his dancing ability a few months ago when he was introduced at Rupp Arena for the first time. His signature dance move has become such a hit that there's even "The John Wall Dance" facebook page. T-shirts are being made. Fans are doing it at games. Coach Cal did it at a telethon the other day to raise money for Haiti. Courtney Cox even did it on her TV show Cougar Town.

What can I say? The John Wall Dance craze has hit the nation!
