Gender Prediction Theories

I've been thinking a lot lately about whether Baby Rodrick is a boy or a girl and have had some fun doing some gender prediction tests.  We'll find out on May 2 if Baby Rodrick will be wearing blue or pink come September.

Chinese Calendar Theory: The gender prediction is based on the month of conception and the mother's birthday.

Boy

Heart Rate Theory:The old wives' tale says that if your baby's heart rate is higher, above 140 beats per minute, that means you're having a girl.  A lower heart rate, below 140 beats per minute, means you're having a boy.

Boy--heart rate was 134 last week

Food Craving Theory: If you're craving salty and savory snacks, like pizza and chips, you're having a boy.  If you're craving sweet and sugary snacks, like chocolate and ice cream, you're having a girl.

Boy & Girl--I have been craving more chips & salty snacks lately but I still have to have my nightly dessert too

Morning Sickness Theory: If you have little to no morning sickness, you're having a boy.  If you have a lot of morning sickness, you're having a girl.

Girl--I'm not sure what's considered "a lot" in terms of morning sickness and although I never actually threw up at all, there was about 4-5 weeks where I was nauseous all day and had to take Unisom at night to make it better

Even & Odd Theory: The gender is predicted based on the mother's age at conception and the year of conception. If both are even or odd, it's a girl. If one's even and one's odd, it's a boy.

Girl

Baking Soda Test: You put a little bit of baking soda in the bottom of a cup and then add a little bit of your urine to it.  If it fizzes like pop, you're having a boy.  If there is no fizz, you're having a girl.

Boy

My Intuition: I've always wanted a girl so I've tried to tell myself from the beginning of my pregnancy that it's a boy so I won't be disappointed if it is but the past few weeks, I've honestly thought it's a boy.  Plus, four of my really good friends that have had a baby in the past year or so (or will have a baby in the next few months) have all had girls and there's no way we can also have a girl, right?

Boy

Even though we'll find out at the beginning of May, I won't be sharing until Memorial Day weekend so you'll have to hang tight for a little awhile longer.

I'm thinking boy for you! Are you going to Ultrasona?

It's so much fun to try to guess! I think I'm at the exact same place as you in my pregnancy! I'm due September 24th! So glad I found your blog to follow along with your updates! :)

I think you're having a boy too! From what I've heard from others, your morning sickness was probably mild!
