Lucy at 4 Months

4 months on January 29, 2014

Every month with Lucy gets better & better!  It's fun to see her little personality already starting to come out and how much she has already changed.  Now that I'm back to work, she spends most mornings & early afternoons at my parent's place where my mom watches her.  She's been doing great with my mom and I'm glad it was a smooth transition back to work.  One of my favorite parts of the day is when I go pick her up and she sees me; Lucy's face just lights up & she has the biggest smile. She also rolled over for the first time the other day!  She's been rolling from her back onto her side all the time recently and she managed to roll over onto her stomach.  I will mention though her one arm was still stuck underneath her but I still consider this her first time rolling over.  She hasn't done it again yet and she also isn't anywhere near close to rolling from her stomach to her back. She loves to grab all the toys hanging above her on her activity mat and she also enjoys looking at herself in the mirror (typical girl!).  She's also found her voice this month and will babble a lot throughout the day.

Weight: 12 lbs. 13 oz. on January 29 (31st percentile)

Length: 24.9 in. on January 29 (74th percentile)

Clothes: Still wearing all 0-3 and 3 month clothes but I have a feeling in the next week or so we'll be switching over to 3-6 and 6 month clothes.  She's also still wearing size 1 diapers which I think she'll be in for awhile.

Eating: At the beginning of the month, Lucy was eating about every 3 hours which meant she ate 5 times/day but for the past week or so, she's been eating every 3.5-4 hours which means she's eating about 4 times/day.  She is still on 100% breastmilk and on the days I work, she takes 1 or 2 bottles (depending on how long I'm gone) and I nurse her the other times. She usually takes 4-6 oz. when she gets a bottle.  I also still pump first thing in the morning when I wake up before I work out and at least once at work (sometimes twice if I'm working longer) so I already have a freezer stash that will last us almost a month!

Sleeping: This is the first full month that I've been back to work so on the days that I work, I wake her up between 6:30-6:45 AM and the one day I have off and on the weekends, she tends to wake up on her own between 7:30-8:00 AM.  She's taking 3 naps/day; two are usually with my mom since I'm at work until 1:00 PM and then she'll take one more nap later in the afternoon.  Nap length can be anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour and a half. Bedtime is usually between 7:30-8:00 PM and she sleeps straight through the night until we get her up.  We finally transitioned her from the Rock 'n Play to the crib a couple weeks ago and although it took 5 nights before she was sleeping straight through the night again, I think she likes the crib better because she has more room to move.  She is also out of the swaddle (still in the sleep sack though just to keep her warm at night) so it was a big month for us to accomplish both of those things. Those few nights we transitioned her have been the only nights since she was about 7-8 weeks old that she woke up at night.

Likes: Putting everything in her mouth, rolling onto her side, kicking her legs & splashing in the bathtub, kicking her socks off

Dislikes: Large crowds, tummy time (although she's getting better)

Milestones: First New Year's Eve/Day, baptized on January 12, transitioned from Rock 'n Play to crib, transitioned out of swaddle, rolled over from back to stomach on January 25 (one arm was still stuck underneath her though)

Lucy is so cute!! Henry did the opposite rollover first. I think the weight of his head helped him a little bit. ;) I'm glad the transition to crib went well for you guys!
