6 months on March 29, 2014
This was quite the big month for Lucy! She rolled over in both directions, although she's only rolled from stomach to back once and she only rolls from her back to stomach at night when she's sleeping. As of a few days ago, she's also sitting up by herself! She can typically sit up for a few minutes before she starts to lean towards one side and falls over. Lucy also had her first taste of food after her 6 month appointment and tried sweet potatoes...both pureed and steamed. She LOVES story time at the library and being around other little babies and kids. It's amazing how much she changes each month and I'm excited to see what this next month will bring.
Weight: 15 lbs. 3 oz. on March 28, 2014 (36th percentile)
Length: 26 in. on March 28, 2014 (62nd percentile)
Clothes: Wearing a combination of 3 month & 6 month clothes. We're using the last of our size 1 diapers and will move her into size 2 diapers in the next few days.
Eating: This was her last full month of only having breast milk as we started adding in some food (both baby food and steamed veggies) after her 6 month doctor's appointment on Friday. She nurses or takes a bottle (~6-7 oz) 4 times/day.
Sleeping: Lucy is still a champ at sleeping! She typically takes 2-3 naps/day which are usually 30 minutes to 2 hours in length. She's also started going down for naps pretty easily without needing much rocking or holding to get to sleep. We can tell when she gets tired because she starts to grunt especially if she's in the car seat. At night, we put her to bed between 7:30-8:00 PM and she sleeps straight through the night. If it's during the week when we work, we wake her up around 6:30 AM and on Fridays (when I have off work) and the weekends, she'll sleep until about 7:30 AM and wake up on her own. It's hard to believe that just a few months ago we struggled getting her to sleep at night and now she can be awake and we put her in the crib and she'll be asleep within a few minutes. She did have a rough night after her 6 month doctor's appointment and I think it was because of the shots. She went to sleep easily but woke up an hour later crying and screaming like we hadn't heard in literally months. It took us awhile to calm her down (which is unusual because most of the time if she's upset, she'll calm down once one of us holds her) and once she finally fell asleep, she'd wake up crying as soon as we put her in her crib. This went on for an hour or so until we finally gave in and set up camp downstairs and took turns having her sleep on our chest. Around 2:00 AM, we tried to put her in the crib again and she woke up 20 minutes later crying so we headed back downstairs. Once she woke up in the morning though, she was back to her normal, happy, smiley self like nothing was wrong the night before. This definitely made me thankful that she's been sleeping through the night for so long now because that was a rough night!
Likes: Other babies/kids, looking in the mirror, putting everything and anything in her mouth, blowing spit bubbles, chewing on her headbands
Dislikes: Being held by anyone other than me, Todd, and my parents, still not a huge fan of being on her tummy when she's awake
Milestones: First birthday party (March 2), rolled over from back to stomach while sleeping (March 5), first time in high chair (March 12), rolled over from stomach to back (March 15), first time eating solid foods (March 29)
