Interesting End to the Weekend

Todd, Lucy, and I got up bright & early on Saturday morning to drive up to Cleveland so I could run the Cleveland 10 Miler with Emily and Tracy.  I'll have a full race report on Thursday but we just ran it easy for fun.  I've missed running these girls and the 10 miles flew by.

After the race, we went to brunch at Sweet Melissa's in Rocky River.  Ironically, years ago this place was called Max's and my parents & I would eat here when we'd visit Aunt Tootie.  The brunch at Sweet Melissa's though was fantastic and the portion sizes were huge!  Definitely a place I'd check out again if in the area.  Of course, the best part of brunch was getting to spend more time with Emily & Tracy.

Lucy dined on bananas with a side of giraffe

All the meals came with a side of fried potatoes and I also got chocolate chip pancakes (no surprise there!)

Todd & Mark had breakfast during the race (the course was out and back so they only saw us at the start, mile 7, and the finish) so they split this breakfast sandwich later...it was called Sonja's and had grilled salmon, friend eggs, capers, tomatoes, avocado and goat cheese on a bagel

Couldn't resist dessert to go....

After brunch, we drove back to Columbus and still had plenty of time to enjoy the nice weather.  Since Lucy had been in her car seat, stroller, or high chair most of the day, we decided to take her to the park so she could play a bit.  She loves swinging so we swung for awhile and also went down the slides a few times.  It's so much fun to get out and do this stuff now that she's bigger.

And then I took her down the slide

We had such a great day that I should've known something would be in store for us on Sunday.  The only plans we had were grocery shopping and going to a cookout/baby sprinkle for Megan, one of my good girlfriends later in the afternoon.  Unfortunately, we ended up having other plans in store for us.  I had felt great on Sunday morning when I woke up but about an hour or two later, I noticed my back started to feel tight so I stretched a bit but within an hour or so, I was literally laying on the couch crying because I couldn't even move.  Todd went to the grocery store and when he came back, I told him we needed to go to the urgent care.  I had tried to get up to go to bathroom when he was gone and made it about 5 steps before I fell to the floor and then it took me 10 minutes to get back to the couch.  Quite the sight to see, I'm sure!  Todd literally had to carry me to the car and then carry me from the car into a wheelchair at the urgent care.  Luckily, my mom was able to watch Lucy during this ordeal.  I left urgent care with a steroid and muscle relaxer and within an hour or so, I was able to actually walk, not pain-free, but at least I could walk.  I was worried about being able to take care of Lucy and I felt relieved when I could walk again.

Hanging out at urgent care in a wheelchair...I look terrible from crying and I'm sitting awkward because my back hurt so bad

Of course, this back flare up couldn't have come at a worse time.  I missed my friend's cookout/baby sprinkle, might not be able to the run the Cap City Half on Saturday, and on top of it all, because of the medications I'm taking, I have to pump & dump for the next week which is literally so depressing.  Thank god I have enough of a stash in our deep freezer!  This afternoon I have an appointment for a massage and an adjustment at the chiropractic practice I go to when my back starts to hurt so I'm hoping that will do the trick.
