Lucy at 7 Months

7 months on April 29, 2014

Lucy has perfected the art of sitting up this month.  At the end of last month, she was starting to sit up on her own but would still topple over after a few minutes.  She now loves sitting up and being able to play with all her toys, especially the new ones she can now play with since can she sit upright.  Lucy loves food and gets so excited when it's time to eat.  She literally squeals when she sees us get out her sippy cup and her food.  She is also starting to finally roll over consistently and you can tell when she pushes up when she's on her tummy that she's trying to get her legs moving and is wanting to be on the move but I think crawling is still a ways off.  Lucy has also overcome her stranger anxiety and will now let other people hold her and is actually happy and giggling when they do.  This was especially important this past month as we went out of town 3 times (Houston, Leetonia, and Cleveland) and visited lots of family and friends.  We had a few rough patches but she was a trooper overall.

Weight: Probably around 16 lbs. (She was 15 lbs. 3 oz. on March 28, 2014 at her 6 month apt)

Length: No idea (She was 26 in. on March 28, 2014 at her 6 month appt)

Clothes: Pretty much wearing all 6 months clothes still (and some 3-6 month outfits/onesies) but I can't wait for her to get a little bit bigger so she can start wearing all her cute 9 month summer outfits. She's also in size 2 diapers.

Eating: Lucy started solid foods this month and we haven't found a food she doesn't like yet!  We're doing a combination of purees that we spoon feed her and steamed food that she can feed herself.  She's tried sweet potatoes, avocados, carrots, green beans, peas, butternut squash, bananas, pears, and apples.  We started with solids just at dinner time for the first couple weeks and then added in a morning snack when she's at my mom's while I'm at work.  In the next week or so, I'll start adding in a third meal. She is also still taking only breast milk and either nurses or gets a bottle 4x/day with bottles being 4-6 oz.  Now that she's eating food, she isn't nursing as long or taking as much in a bottle. She has also figured out how to use a sippy cup this month!

Sleeping: We had a few nights this month that she woke up at night but it was when we were in Houston.  I'm not sure if she woke up because we didn't have her white noise machine, because she was overly tired & didn't nap well, because of the time change, or because of sleeping in a new place (hotel room).  Thank god she went back to her normal sleeping habits of 10-11 hours straight because after 3 nights of waking up, I was tired!  I am thanking our lucky stars that she's a great sleeper 99% of the time.  Lucy has been napping really well too, taking 2-3 naps/day for 45 minutes up to 2 hours.  She naps either once or twice in the morning/early afternoon when she's at my mom's and then once in the afternoon with me.

Likes: Pulling hair, grabbing everyone's ears (or earrings), clapping her hands, other babies/kids and dogs

Dislikes: Tummy time (although in the past week or so she's actually been okay with it for a little bit)

Milestones: First time running with jogging stroller (March 31), learned to clap her hands (April 4), first airplane ride (April 11), first trip to Houston to meet her Great Grandma, aunts, uncles, and cousins (April 11-13), first Easter (April 20), first time spectating mommy running a race (April 26)
