Lucy at 12 Months

12 Months on September 29, 2014

Where did the past year go?  Seriously, I cannot believe I'm writing Lucy's 12 month recap already!  She truly has been the light of our lives this past year and I don't even remember what it was like without her.  Wait, I take that back, I do remember having a bit more freedom on the weekends and getting to go out a lot more often, but I wouldn't change a thing.  Lucy has such an outgoing personality and is definitely a people person.  She also knows when to ham it up for an audience and will typically give strangers a big smile when they wave hi.  She also knows how to test Todd & I already and knows what she shouldn't be getting into but will anyways (but not before looking at us to make sure we see her!).  She is almost always babbling and making noise (you know, so we don't forget she's here).  Although she's very social, she's also very independent and is perfectly content some days to play by herself for awhile.  She isn't as cuddly as she used to be which makes me sad but happy that she doesn't constantly need me right by her side.

Lucy still hasn't taken any steps yet on her own which completely blows my mind because she walks so well with her walker around the house and has been for 2 months now.  She figured out this month how to back up with it as well as steer better and avoid hitting objects (wall, couch, table, etc.).  She's great at doing laps around the first floor of our house.  She can also stand on her own without assistance and will even do sqauts so I know she can keep her balance but she just hasn't taken any steps yet.  I should say though I'm not really in that big of a rush though because I know it will be that much harder to watch her once she's walking and running around the house on her own.

She still only has her 2 bottom teeth but has been drooling like crazy recently although I never know if that really means more teeth are coming soon or not.  It'd be nice if she had more teeth just to make chewing her food a bit easier.

Weight: She was 20 lbs 11 oz on September 30, 2014 at her 12 month appt (44th percentile)

Length: She was 30.5 inches on September 30, 2014 at her 12 month appt (89th percentile)

Clothes: Lucy is wearing 12 month and 12-18 month clothes (size depends on brand) as well as size 3 diapers and size 3 shoes.

Eating:  Lucy tried spaghetti, quesadillas, pizza, a donut hole, and buttered toast this month.  She still loves almost all foods and it's been really easy for us to go places with her since she's not picky.  She is still taking breastmilk in a sippy cup and I think I still have enough in the deep freezer for at least another month although we might start mixing it with whole milk soon so she gets used to it.  She eats 3 meals plus one snack every day: breakfast around 8:00 AM, lunch around 12:00 PM, a snack around 4:30 PM, and dinner at 6:30 PM.  Looking forward to trying out eggs and peanut butter next month too!

Sleeping: Again, nothing has changed in the sleep department except her naps are becoming shorter (or she is skipping once every few days).  She usually takes 2 naps, one around 10:00 AM and a second one around 3:00 PM, and they're anywhere from 30 minutes to 1.5 hours.  She goes to bed at night between 7:30-8:00 PM and gets up between 7:00-7:30 AM.

Likes: Walking with her walker, being chased, reading books, empty boxes, diving head first off the arm rest on the glider or couch

Dislikes: Sitting still

Milestones: Signed eat (September 5), standing without assistance (September 7), 1 year photos (September 14), first birthday! (September 29)
