Lucy at 14 Months

14 Months on November 29, 2014

It seems like not a lot changes during these monthly updates now that Lucy is getting older.  Her top two front teeth did break through just a few days or so after her last update and she did great....didn't even fuss or wake up at night.  She's practically running around the house now and loves to reach up and grab stuff on the kitchen table and counters so we really have to be careful with what is in her reach.  Lucy loves to look at books and over the past month, she's really soaked up a lot of information and can point out a ton of different things in her books (different animals, food, etc.) and can identify her body parts (nose, ears, teeth, belly, etc).  She has also learned a couple new signs too but isn't really talking much yet.  She babbles and will say "ba" sometimes when she sees a ball but that's about it in terms of associating any noises/words with items. My parents were watching a basketball game when they were watching her one afternoon and they taught her how to make a basket.  She puts her arm up in the air (her left hand too!) and then quickly slams it down like she's dunking. It's the cutest thing!  Whenever she sees a basketball game on TV, that's all she does!

I joined the YMCA at the beginning of the month and have been going to work out on Friday mornings when I'm off work and taking Lucy to the child watch area.  The first time I took her was the first time she'd been watched by anyone other than family and she's done pretty well.  She immediately gets excited and will run off to play with toys but usually by the time I pick her back up after about an hour, she's getting a little fussy and ready to see me.  Of course, after the first couple times of taking her and being around other kids, Lucy got her first real cold and then passed it to Todd & I.  I felt so bad for her because she had a runny nose and slight fever for a couple days (still slept great though...this kid LOVES to sleep!) and wasn't as energetic as usual.  Within a few days though she was back to her normal self (right when Todd & I got hit with the cold).

Lucy celebrated her second Thanksgiving this month (I can't believe we're already celebrating her second holidays already!) and while she wasn't a huge fan of the turkey or stuffing, she loved the peas, roll, cranberry jello, and pumpkin caramel cake.  She also went to her first tailgate when we went down to campus with Todd's family to tailgate for the Ohio State vs. Michigan game.

Weight: I'm guessing around 22 pounds, her next appointment is at the end of December (she was 20 lbs 11 oz on September 30, 2014 at her 12 month appt)

Length: I'm guessing around 31-32 inches, her next appointment is at the end of December (she was 30.5 inches on September 30, 2014 at her 12 month appt)

Clothes: Lucy is wearing 12 month, 12-18 month, and 18 month clothes (size depends on brand) as well as size 3 diapers and size 4/4.5 shoes.  Some of the 18 month clothes are still really big on her but at least I know she'll be able to wear them for awhile!

Eating: She has become a little pickier this month with her food and doesn't seem to like vegetables as much but she loves sweet potatoes & avocados still as well as fruit so it's really not that big of deal.  I also made some peanut butter banana muffins for her for breakfast and snuck in some cauliflower puree and she has gobbled them up so these might be something I make every few weeks and freeze for her.  Lucy is officially off of breast milk (I used the last bag about a week ago) and is totally fine drinking whole milk.  I still can't believe my freezer stash lasted over 4 months!  I hadn't pumped since June or July and stopped nursing in July.  Meal times are the same and she eats breakfast is around 8:00 AM, lunch is around 12:00 PM, and dinner is around 6:00 PM with a snack after her nap in the afternoon around 4:30 PM.

Sleeping: Still sleeping great and she usually takes 2 naps, one around 9:30/10:00 AM and a second one around 2:30/3:00 PM, and they're anywhere from 30 minutes to 1.5 hours.  She goes to bed at night between 7:30-8:00 PM and gets up between 7:00-7:30 AM.

Likes: Reading books & sitting in peoples' laps, eating

Dislikes: Seeing food & not being allowed to eat it (she could literally eat ALL.THE.TIME)

Milestones: Top two front teeth broke through (beginning of November), first time being watched by someone other than family (in the child care at the Y; November 7), first cold (November 15), first tailgate (November 29)
