I wish I could say we had some amazing New Year's Eve celebration but in reality, Todd & I stayed at home with Lucy, made a bunch of food, and were asleep by 11:00 PM. I will admit though it was actually a great night and I would probably choose doing what we did over going out anyways. I didn't even take any pictures of us that night and only took pictures of the food (although I'm pretty sure I was in comfy clothes when I got home from work that afternoon so maybe it's a good thing we didn't take any people pictures that night).
Todd made homemade Aunt Annie's pretzels (there were more than 3 but they were still on the tray in the oven) and cheese fondue
We had plans of making a bunch of appetizers but only made it through a few pretzels and these mac & cheese bites before calling it quits until dessert...
which was this delicious Double Chocolate Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Cake (my inspiration from Pinterest)
I'd say it actually turned out similar to my inspiration picture and was very tasty!

The rest of the long weekend flew by in a blur and I was really confused which day it was (Friday and Saturday both felt like they should be Sunday). On New Year's Day, we took down all our Christmas decorations and our tree, watched the Fiesta bowl, and went to my parents' for a wonderful New Year's Day dinner.
Todd has been off work all week so he'd watch Lucy while I was at work and then he'd head down to the basement all afternoon once I got home to work on finishing our storage room. He wanted to tile the floor and it's (obviously) taking him a lot longer than anticipated. I'm just anxious for that to be done so we can finally start working on Lucy's big girl room! (The basement storage room needs to be completed first so we can move stuff from our office into that room because the office is going to be Lucy's new room.) So basically all weekend, Todd was in the basement working while I hung out with Lucy.
We did find some time on Saturday morning though to run errands & Lucy played in the play area at the Polaris Mall
Picked up some paint swatches for Lucy's new room (we're looking at a mint green color)
We stopped at the library and picked up a stack of about 10 books which I then read to her 3 times (she would literally ask me to read the same book to her over and over again but I told her we had to read all of them through once before repeating)
While Lucy was napping, I started redecorating our bookcase in the family room; we had a ton of DVDs on the shelves but I decided it was time to put those in the basement so I've slowly started buying some odds & ends to put up instead
I also cleaned up and organized the play room/exercise room
The other side of the room
View from the doorway (yes, it's about 3/4 playroom and 1/4 exercise room now)
Todd measuring tile in the basement so he could cut the pieces to fit
View from the doorway (if you remember a few months ago, Todd was just in the process of framing the rooms and we were able to have someone come and drywall a few weeks ago, then Todd painted the walls, and now he's tiling; the last step will be grouting and adding the trim so it should be done by next weekend!)
Somehow smiling despite working about 15 hours down there over the past week
Coming down the basement stairs on your left will be this room, Todd's future beer making room (his next project after Lucy's big girl room), and then through that room (he put up a door) will be the storage room (you can just barely see the tiled floor in the doorway)
