Labor Day Weekend Part 1

We managed to cram a lot into our extra long weekend so for the sake of not overloading you with a million pictures in one post, I'm breaking up our weekend recap into Friday & Saturday today and Sunday & Monday (Labor Day) tomorrow.

I had to go into work for a couple hours on Friday morning so my parents graciously watched Cece & took Lucy to preschool on their normal day off from the girls.  My original plan was to pick Lucy up from preschool and head out to explore another park in the area but the weather was cold and dreary (seriously, September hit and the weather did a 180!) so we had to make other plans.  Cece & I got Lucy from school and came home for lunch instead of having our picnic.  I had already packed up some food for our picnic so I decided to give the popular muffin tin meal a try that always pop up on Pinterest.  Even though the food was pretty much the same that she'd normally get, I think because it was in a muffin tin and not on a plate, she ate everything (which doesn't usually happen nowadays).  Since the girls finished lunch relatively quickly and we couldn't play outside, we drove over to Tuttle mall to check out their recently remodeled play area.  While there wasn't quite as much for Lucy to climb or play on, there was a great area for babies/small toddlers like Cece.  They both had fun though and we made it home for Cece's afternoon nap.

So excited for her special lunch

Little bit of everything

Cece hanging out at the mall play area

Baby/toddler area was carpeted with lots of interactive toys on the wall and mats & blocks

Lucy drawing on the computer

She wasn't sure what she thought of sitting on the duck (?)

Lucy was hiding in the tunnel and Cece kept crawling through to see her

Made a quick stop at Cheryl's Cookies to pick up some cookies for our overnight guests and of course we couldn't resist splitting a cookie there

She was trying to find more cookie in the empty package

We had some friends stay the night with us on Friday night because they were in town for a wedding.  They just recently moved away and have two little boys so the kids all played together on Saturday morning while the adults caught up.  It was fun to hang out and have them stay at our house especially because we don't know the next time they'll be in Columbus again.

The weather on Saturday was even worse than Friday (it literally rained/drizzled the entire day and was just cold and wet) but when we spotted an event going on at Donatos right by our house, we decided to stop and see what it was all about.  Apparently they just remodeled the restaurant and were having a grand re-opening.  Lucy wanted to stop when she saw face painting and balloon animals, which were outside but luckily underneath a tent so we weren't getting soaked.  She also won a free small pizza which we took back home for lunch.

She wanted Minnie Mouse

So cute (and she picked a tiger balloon)

While Cece napped on Saturday afternoon, Todd worked in the basement (I'm starting to sound like a broken record) and Lucy watched "Boss Baby" which I had checked out from the library.  She loved it and as been singing "Blackbird" by the Beatles on repeat since then (and by singing I mean she sings one line over and over again).  For dinner that evening, we ventured to Worthington to eat at Pat and Gracie's.  The food was good but the service and Lucy's behavior were subpar so it was more stressful than enjoyable.

Best attempt at a family photo (minus me of course)

The weather finally turned around for Sunday & Monday so we were able to head outside both days.  I'll have that post up tomorrow!
