Girls' Trip to Hocking Hills

After literally years of talking about going on a girls' trip, my best girlfriends & I finally made it happen.  This group of girlfriends are a combination of some of my grade school friends as well as high school friends and together the seven of us have been friends for almost 20 years (I think we all started hanging out together our sophomore year at some point).  A few of us also went to the same college so we have plenty of memories and have celebrated lots of life events together.

Sometime in the spring, we settled on this past weekend to block off (and let our husbands handle the kids for those of us that have them) and head to Hocking Hills for some girl time.  Five of us drove together and left on Friday afternoon while the other two had commitments and arrived late Friday evening.  We took it easy at the cabin on Friday night and then on Saturday we had a busy day of ziplining at Soaring Cliffs Zipline, getting wine at the Hocking Hills Winery, and enjoying a delicious dinner at Kindred Spirits located at the Inn & Spa at Cedar Falls.  We did have plenty of downtime to hang out at the cabin as well (even though a couple of those hours were without electricity because the power randomly went out) and all seven of us squeezed into the hot tub on Saturday night. We spent lots of time catching up, reminiscing, and feeling like we were 16 again! The weekend flew by and I was sad to see it come to an end as we drove home on Sunday morning but we've already started discussing a much bigger trip when we turn 40 (which unfortunately is closer than I'd like it to be) to possibly go to Costa Rica and experience ziplining through the rainforest.

Starting off our weekend with rum punch made by Lauren

Our dinner spread (we each brought a dish to share)

The Sexy Seven (yes, we named ourselves and this is how we refer to each other)

A few of us got up early on Saturday to work out

Ready to zipline!

There were 10 lines we did and on this one, we were supposed to try to throw our bean bag into the giant cornhole board below us as we zipped by (spoiler alert: none of us did it)

Loving life and enjoying our time ziplining

About halfway through, they had a bonfire set up in one of the recessed caves that we could roast marshmallows for s'mores or hot dogs

Line #8 was the longest one we did (almost a quarter mile) and highest one in the state of Ohio

We made it!

All cleaned up and having drinks at the winery

Most of us got the wine sampler that came with 8 wines and you could pick their wine slushies in the sampler which were very tasty (this is the peach one)

My last 4 wine samples (which included the other wine slushie which was raspberry)
