Last Weekend Before School Starts

Lucy starts Kindergarten on Thursday so I wanted to plan something fun for her last weekend before school (although our public school Kindergarten schedule is a little different so she actually won't go every day).  On Friday, the girls & I started our morning at Target to let Cece pick out a new toy to take to bed with her since she would be giving up her pacifier that day.  Her pacifier stays in her crib so she only had it for her nap and night time but it was definitely time to get rid of it.  After Target, we drove to the Short North to play at Goodale Park and have lunch at the North Market.  The news that morning had said there was a chance of rain in the late afternoon but as our luck would have it, it was pouring when we left the North Market so we were soaked getting back to the car (which I had parked at Goodale).  Lucy & I were running (I was carrying Cece) and I'm sure it was quite the sight to see!  As a treat, we stopped at Menchie's for frozen yogurt.  That evening, Todd & I had our favorite at-home date night with sushi.  He ended up working late 3 nights last week and two of those nights he didn't get home until after midnight so I hardly saw him.  It was nice to spend some time together on Friday night.

Seriously, her expressions are hilarious

Cece all smiles with her new toys (she got 2--one for throwing away her pacifier and one because we had to return a bath toy she bought with her birthday money last month that broke right away) and did so well with no pacifier!  It's been 4 days without it and while she's asked for it every time I put her down in bed, she's only cried once.  I thought it would be a lot harder with her than it was with Lucy because she's had it a few months longer but it really was no big deal

At home date night sushi

Part of Saturday morning was spent on the phone with the travel agent discussing and booking our family vacation for next summer.  Before we knew it, it was already 11:00 AM and with rain in the forecast, we headed to play indoors at the mall (and do a bit of shopping).  We got home in time for Cece's nap and then headed to Giordano's earlier than our normal dinner time to avoid a long wait time.  We got there around 4:45 PM and only had a 20 min wait for our table. Since the deep dish pizzas take an hour to cook, we put our order in while we were waiting for our table so once we sat down, we only had to wait 45 min for our pizza.  We also ordered a kids' meal for the girls to share so they wouldn't be cranky at the table.  Afterwards, we walked a few doors down to The Suisee Shop Bakery to split a cookie for dessert.

Look at that cheese pull

So tasty

She's actually getting better at letting me take her picture now and sometimes she'll even ask me to take her picture

It was so nice outside once we got home on Saturday night, we let the girls play outside for about a half hour before going in for baths and bed

We even got out the gator, a hand me down from our niece & nephew

On Sunday, we spent a few hours at Zoombezi Bay.  They're only open through Labor Day so with only a few weekends to go, we figured this might be our last chance to go this year.  The weather was perfect, the water in the pools was really warm, and the girls had fun so it was a great time.  We even stopped at Jungle Jack's Landing to let the girls ride a couple rides (the train and tea cups) before heading home.  We stayed at home the rest of the day and are looking forward to an exciting week ahead with Lucy's 1st day of Kindergarten (and Todd's 1st day at OSU working on his master's certificate program through Honda) and Todd & I going out for a fancy dinner next weekend to celebrate our anniversary.

Going down a slide

Cece was hesitant to actually go down so she sat at the top for awhile before finally going down
