We continued our summer family tradition of going taking a day off work and going to the Ohio State Fair. We could easily go on a weekend but it's typically not very crowded during the week and especially if you get there when it opens. The weather was picture perfect last Thursday with hardly a cloud in the sky although the sun was pretty warm by the time we left to come home. We came, we saw, we eat fried food, and we conquered.
Family photo by the red cardinal at the entrance
Girls climbing onto a large tractor...or some piece of farm equipment
One of the 3 day old twin calves that the girls were petting
They were very excited to get their picture taken with Luna from PBS...
as well as Clifford
The butter sculptures this year commemorated the 50th anniversary of the landing on the moon
It's amazing that these are made out of butter!
With the famous butter cows
Since we were in the dairy building, we had a mid-morning ice cream break
Todd got a strawberry milkshake
Petting one of the piglets
They were adorable!
The girls both picked these antique cars to ride
Cece was in the car right behind Lucy
Both girls on the track
Checking out the Clydesdales
Had to snap this picture to send to Grandpa
We didn't bring a stroller for Cece so we could all ride the sky ride so we had to take a few rest breaks for her little legs
Apparently we can start having Lucy take our picture now--this one turned out great!
Smokey the Bear
Each girl took a turn doing the jet ski simulator with me
Lunch break
As we were eating lunch, the girls spotted a cut out they wanted their picture with
I had to get my deep fried sampler of buckeyes, oreos, and nutter butters
Once we were ready to leave, we rode the sky ride back to the entrance; Todd & Lucy rode together...
and Cece & I rode together
