Fall Fun at Young's Dairy

Despite the cold weather on Saturday, we bundled up and headed to Yellow Springs to spend time at Young's Dairy and then decided to stop at Yellow Springs Brewery on the way home.  I was first introduced to the Yellow Springs area and Young's Dairy when I was in college at UD by one of my roommates who was from the Dayton area.  Todd & I went to Yellow Springs a few years ago to hike at Glen Helen and walk around the shops in town but we hadn't been back since.

During the fall, Young's Dairy has a lot of different activities for kids...hayrides to the pumpkin patch, corn maze, slides, barn with animals, tractors to climb on, and a kiddie area.  We had spent the weekend before this past one inside for pretty much 3 days straight as Lucy was potty training (and it was a success!) so we were ready to get out and do something fun this past weekend.  The drive to Yellow Springs is only about an hour and although we got there about an hour after they opened, it wasn't really crowded yet.  Now by the time we played and ate lunch, it was packed which surprised me since it was our first really cold day since probably March.

We started our day there playing on the tractors

As soon as Lucy saw the goats outside, she ran over and wanted to check out the barn

We saw goat, pigs, and cows

Climbing on tires

We made our way over to the "pumpkin patch" that had pre-picked pumpkins (you could also take a hayride  to the actual pumpkin patch but we're doing that next weekend so we skipped it)

Proof that we were at Young's Dairy

We spent quite a bit of time at the Kiddie Corral area where she climbed through tunnels...

went down slides...

and rode tractors

Todd helping her pedal (she was very distracted watching all the other kids)

I barely fit in this thing but I didn't trust Lucy in it by herself

Off we go!

We went on about a 5 minute ride around the farm

We came back to Kiddie Corral and Lucy played cornhole

and she attempted putt-putt

She found it much easier to just pick the golf ball up and place it in the hole

We ended our day with a late lunch & Lucy couldn't get enough of the milkshake I ordered

Yummy food!

I think Lucy was on a sugar high from the milkshake and cookie we all split

Since Yellow Springs Brewery was only 2 miles away, we made a quick stop to their taproom so Todd could get a taster tray

Sampling beers

We had a great time on our day trip and we were glad to be able to get away to do something different since the next month or so will be busy with going to the pumpkin patch, Halloween & trick-or-treating, birthday parties, a baby shower, Todd's birthday, and Thanksgiving.
